Hurricanes double Kootenay Ice 8-4

CRANBROOK – With the Lethbridge Hurricanes playing their second of three games in three nights, they earned a decisive 8-4 win Sat. Dec. 29 over the Kootenay Ice.

The Canes’ Nick Henry opened the scoring early at 6:27 in the first, followed by Danila Palivko at 17:06, Dylan Cozens at 18:30 and Calen Addison at 19:32 of the first. 

Brad Ginnell and Jager White added two for the Ice, making it 4-2.

In the second, Jake Leschyshyn scored twice at 4:45 and 19:29, while Cozens scored his second goal of the game at 19:03. Cole Muir added another for the Ice. 

The Ice took advantage of a power play in the third period, with Jakin Smallwood putting it in the Cane’s net. Jordy Bellerive scored his 18th goal of the season to round out the scoring and ending the game with a four-goal lead. 

Cane’s Goaltender Bryan Thomson make his debut with 33 saves for his first WHL win. The Canes were three for six on the power play, while the Ice went three for eight. The team is now 19-10-4-2 on the season. 

The ‘Canes are back home at the Enmax Centre Sunday, to take on the Medicine Hat Tigers. Game time is 6 p.m.
