FIELD, BC – Canadian Pacific Railway says it has reopened the main line through Field, B.C., where 99 grain cars and two locomotives jumped the tracks in a deadly derailment on Monday.

Three Calgary-based crew members were killed and an investigation into why the air brakes released on the parked train continues.

In a news release Wednesday night, CP Rail said the mainline tracks were opened earlier in the day after completing all necessary safety checks in close collaboration with Transport Canada.

It says CP crews and contractors are still “working diligently in challenging conditions to remove the damaged rail cars and equipment”.
