Deadline approaching for Alberta Order of Excellence nominations

Feb 11, 2019 | 7:45 AM

ALBERTA – The window to submit your nominations for the province’s highest award is closing soon.

The Alberta Order of Excellence recognizes people of Alberta that have made an “outstanding provincial, national or international impact”.

Past recipients include musician k.d. lang, and Lethbridge’s own Rosella Bjornson, who is Canada’s first female airline jet pilot, and the first female First Officer on a twin engine jet in North America.

Nominations are open year-round, but must be submitted by February 15th for a candidate to be considered for 2019.

The Alberta Order of Excellence Council receives and considers the nominations. The council is made up of volunteers appointed by Order-in-Council from across Alberta.

The Council makes its decision no later than June, with new members inducted during a special ceremony in October.
