LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is advising residents of some infrastructure work set to start up on Monday, Feb. 18.

Crews will be lining storm and sanitary sewer pipes in the downtown area around Galt Gardens.

According to the City, the lining work is a lower-impact and lower-cost alternative to digging and replacing aging pipes.

Work will take place between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Residents and businesses in the area have been notified about noise and service interruptions that might occur during the lining installation.

The work is slated to wrap up by next Friday, Feb. 22, weather permitting.

The City is asking motorists to drive with caution and follow posted detour signs.

The work schedule for the sanitary sewer lining is as follows:

  • Feb. 18: 7 Street between 2 Avenue and 3 Avenue (traffic detour from 6 p.m. – 2 a.m.)
  • Feb. 18: 5 Street between 2 Avenue and 3 Avenue (10 p.m. – 6 a.m.)
  • Feb. 19: 3 Avenue between 5 Street and 6 Street (6 p.m. – 2 a.m.)
  • Feb. 19: 6 Street between 3 Avenue and 4 Avenue (10 p.m. – 6 a.m.)

The schedule for the storm lining is as follows:

  • Feb. 20: 7 Street between 2 Avenue and 3 Avenue (traffic detour from 6 p.m. – Midnight)
  • Feb. 21: 3 Avenue between 7 Street and 8 Street (6 p.m. – 3 a.m.)
