Kodiaks women’s basketball team back in postseason following a one-year hiatus
FORT MCMURRAY, AB – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s basketball program returns to the ACAC championships this weekend after a one-season playoff absence, finishing the regular season with a 13-8 record and placing third in the ACAC south division.
That sets up a quarterfinal matchup with the championship tournament host Keyano Huskies on Thursday, Feb. 28.
It was a bounce-back campaign for the Kodiaks after the club went just 6-15 last season. In her second year at the helm, head coach Deanna Dotts re-tooled the club and found success with a team that had the third-best defence in the south division.
“The girls bought into the type of game that we wanted to play and were willing to put in the work,” Dotts explained. “We said from early on that defence was where we were going to excel this year, and I believe we did just that.”
