Multiple local wrestlers medal at Alberta Open Championships

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Lethbridge wrestlers put on quite the display at the Alberta Open Wrestling Championships in Medicine Hat this weekend.

20 wrestlers hit the mat representing the city on March 16 and 17.

In the freestyle category, the following athletes captured gold:

Brantley Saar – U17 

Angelina Ellis-Toddington – U17 

Rawley Selk – U17

Maren Evanson – U19

Ryder Lowry – Bantam Male

Payton Shields – Bantam Female

Blessing Diyaolu – Bantam Female

Hayden Ellis-Toddington – Kids

The following athletes left Medicine Hat with silver medals:

Mason Harris – U19

Briggs Butler – U17

Mackenzie Midgley – U17

Jada Bester – U17

Danica Harris – Bantam

Tamryn Bly – Bantam

Reese Ferguson – Bantam

Dakota Smith (U17), Billie Harris (Bantam) and Sydney Shields (Novice) earned bronze medals

In the Greco-Roman style events, Brantley Saar (U17), Angelina Ellis-Toddington (U17) and Rawley Selk (U17) all won gold.

The U17/U19 Canadian Wrestling Championships take place in Fredericton, New Brunswick April 5 to 7, 2019.

Brantley Saar, Angelina Ellis-Toddington, Mason Harris, Rawley Selk and Maren Evanson are scheduled to make the trek out to compete.
