Jaskirat Singh Sidhu to serve 8-year prison sentence for Broncos bus crash

MELFORT, SASK --    The truck driver who caused the deadly Humboldt Broncos crash has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu (JASS'-kihr-at SING sih-DOO') of Calgary pleaded guilty earlier this year to 29 counts of dangerous driving.

Government takes action to prevent potential spread of African Swine Fever

Sherbrooke, Quebec -- Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau has announced new funding of up to $31-million to increase the number of detector dogs at Canadian airports to help prevent illegally imported meat products from entering Canada.

As deficit grows, the Federal Budget spends more on a wide variety programs

OTTAWA --  The Federal Budget is expected to sink Canadians deeper into the red this year as the Liberal government plans to spend a windfall of new revenue.

The federal budget predicts a deficit of $19.8 billion for 2019-20, including a $3-billion contingency fund.
