By-election will be needed in one Lethbridge County division

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The councillor-elects have been confirmed in all divisions within Lethbridge County except for one.

The County has officially verified the results of the municipal elections.

In Division 1, Reeve incumbent Lorne Hickey was acclaimed.

Tony Campbell in Division 2 was also acclaimed as was Klaas Vander Veen in Division 6 and Morris Zeinstra in Division 7.

Only two out of seven divisions saw multiple candidates battle it out for the most votes.

For Division 3, Mark Sayers came out on top as did John Kuerbis in Division 4.

Lethbridge County has notified Municipal Affairs, however, about Division 5. No candidates submitted their paperwork to run so the position remains unfilled at this time.

Division 5 includes the northwestern portion of the County with rural areas surrounding Nobleford.

While an exact date for the by-election has not yet been set, it will have to take place before April 30, 2022.

For those who were elected, the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 28.
