New app available for parking in downtown Lethbridge

May 31, 2022 | 11:52 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has a new free app for parking in downtown.

The previous app, WayToPark, is being discontinued at the end of June. As a result, a replacement app called Flowbird Parking is now available for customers to transition to.

Flowbird Parking allows customers to pay for parking sessions remotely using their mobile device or tablet. Customers will have to create new accounts on the Flowbird Parking app. Users will select the icon for the kiosk located in the zone they have parked in, the amount of time they wish to purchase and then confirm their purchase.

The existing WayToPark will still be available to use until June 30, 2022 in order for customers to have a proper transition period, After June 30, 2022, Flowbird will then be the sole app customers can use.

The City of Lethbridge said the benefits of the new Flowbird app include:

  • Customers will receive notifications before their time expires.
  • Customers will have the option to extend the parking time to avoid a violation notice (within zone time limits).
  • Customers can register multiple vehicles.
  • Customers will have the ability to view their paid parking history on their mobile device.
  • The app provides secure payments.

The City noted that customers who currently have accounts on WayToPark will have until December 31, 2022 to retrieve any parking receipts they may need. When it ceases, WayToPark will purge all user information data.

Information signage for the new app will be placed on parking kiosks, in City Hall and other frequent parking areas. Customers can also see that information at the City of Lethbridge website and social media channels.
