LETHBRIDGE, AB – A scheduled trial for a southern Alberta woman accused of trying to move animals through the mail did not happen.

Jill Marshall, 57, of Vulcan County, was set to have a one-day trial in the Lethbridge Court of Justice on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

She was charged in May 2019 with one count of causing an animal to be in distress under Alberta’s Animal Protection Act.

A crown prosecutor said he had reviewed all of the evidence in the case with an animal protection attorney from Edmonton. They concluded that there was not a reasonable possibility of conviction.
