More volunteers needed for Operation Red Nose

LETHBRIDGE – People are still needed to pitch in, to ensure a safe ride home during the holiday entertaining season.

Operation Red Nose Lethbridge has been busy, giving out 135 rides just on Saturday, Dec. 3. Over the three day period from Thursday to Saturday the service provided 244 rides, covering 4,770 km.

Eoin Colquhoun with Pronghorn Athletics says they’ve had lots of help with the program, which takes people home in their own vehicle in exchange for a donation. But they need more volunteers for December 16th, 17th, and New Year’s Eve.

“The community’s done a great job thus far volunteering, and getting their forms in, but we definitely could use a few more teams for New Year’s Eve,” he said. He also recommended getting in the forms in plenty of time.

“We need three or four days to get it through the police check process,” he explained.” So if you wanted to work the 17th we’d need it early next week, and then for New Year’s Eve we’d probably be looking at, the latest, December 21st just because the university’s closed.”

The forms can be found at the Pronghorns website.
