LETHBRIDGE – It’s more national recognition for the University of Lethbridge.

Research Infosource ranks the U of L second out of six undergraduate universities for research. Only Lakehead University finished higher.

Out of all universities, it comes in 34th, with nearly 19.7 million dollars in sponsored research income. That’s an increase of 7.4 per cent. In a news release, the university says prairie schools were singled out in particular, for beating the national trend in research income growth.

U of L vice-president (research) Dr. Erasmus Okine said the school’s success in attracting research dollars is being recognized by the consistently high rankings.

The top three schools in the research ranking are the University of Toronto, McGill and UBC. The University of Alberta was ranked 5th, and Calgary 7th.
