LETHBRIDGE – A loaded handgun was seized from a home during a search in the city’s north side, ALERT said.

The agency’s Lethbridge organized crime and gang team conducted the search on the 400 block of 20 St. N. on Monday, Feb. 26. It said the home was first brought to its attention in December, by people in the neighbourhood concerned about possible drug dealing. The home is less than a block from an elementary school.

During the search, ALERT said it seized a loaded .32-calibre handgun, ammunition, and replica guns and bladed weapons. The gun will be investigated by the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team.

Also seized were drug paraphernalia and small amounts of methamphetamine, cannabis, and unknown pills that will be analyzed by Health Canada.

Three people were arrested. Daylan Strembesky, 34, from Lethbridge, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and eight firearms charges. He has already been released on $2000 no cash bail and is under restrictions. Billie-Anne Paulette, a 30-year-old Lethbridge woman, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and six firearms-related counts.

The third person, 20-year-old Pedro Friesen of Taber, is charged with resisting arrest and also faces outstanding warrants.
