Impaired driving charges laid in connection with June fatal crash

COALDALE – A Lethbridge man has been charged in connection with a deadly wrong-way crash west of Lethbridge June 25.

Douglas Bagnall, 62, will return to court Tuesday, Nov. 27 on charges of impaired driving causing death and driving with a blood alcohol level above 80 mg% causing death. Bagnall was arrested Sunday, Nov. 18 and has been released on conditions following a bail hearing.

The collision involved a Toyota Corolla being driven eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 3 just west of Highway 509, and a Chevrolet Impala.

The crash killed the driver of the Impala, a 42-year-old man from the Piikani Nation, while a 12-year-old girl had minor back injuries.
