Graham Abela Named New Police Chief for Town of Taber
LETHBRIDGE: A longtime member of the Taber Police Service is set to take on the position of Police Chief.
Doctor Graham Abela has been selected by the Town of Taber and Police Commission, to replace Alf Rudd who is set to retire next month.
Abela has been with Taber Police since 1990, and he went over what the community can expect when he takes over, “I need the public to know that it’s going to be status quo for the next little while, the same service levels, the same ‘no call to small’ attitude, the same community policing efforts that we practice today, we’re going to continue with, and we look forward to ensuring public safety in this community.”
As the new Chief of Police, Abela will oversee and lead the Taber Police Service, auxiliary police officers, the Regional 911 Communications Centre, peace officers, jail guards and a number of volunteers.
