Man Sentenced for His Role in the Lockdown of a West Side School

LETHBRIDGE: A 37-year old man who walked into a west side school late last year with a hatchet and a knife, has been sentenced for possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public.

Godfrey Adrian Shouting admitted that on December 16, 2015, he went into Mike Mountain Horse School, saying someone was chasing him and that he had a weapon for protection. A teacher quickly took him into an empty room and a lockdown was initiated until police arrived.

Police found the two weapons on Shouting, and he continued to tell them that “bad people” were after him.

It was noted that Shouting was going through withdrawl at the time, and that he never showed any intention of harming anyone at the school.

The judge agreed to a joint sentencing submission from the Crown and defence, imposing a four month jail sentence. However, with credit for 77-days in pre-trial custody, he only has 43-days left to serve.
