Hurricanes Post Second Home Loss in a Row
LETHBRIDGE: In the only meeting between these two teams this season, the Hurricanes outshot Portland 48-38 but, the Winterhawks pulled out a 4-2 win.
Portland opened the scoring just 29 seconds into the game. It was the lone goal of the first period which also saw Winterhawks’ player Keegan Iverson rack up penalty minutes – both a five minute major for kneeing and a ten minute game misconduct.
Hurricane Cory Millette netted his 25th goal of the season and tied the game at 1:37 of the second period, assisted by Andrew Nielsen and Brayden Burke. However, Portland pulled ahead with another goal near the end of the period.
Although the Winterhawks sealed the win with two added goals in the third, the Hurricanes’ Tyler Wong pulled out a power-play goal at 19:46, assisted by Carter Folk and Brayden Burke.
