Fire Ban in Taber and Fire Advisory in Lethbridge County

LETHBRRIDGE: Extremely dry conditions prompted the Town of Taber to impose a Fire Ban on Wednesday. Th Ban restricts all open fires with in the Town and all fire permits are now invalid, until the Ban is lifted.

The Ban does not include back-yard fire pits within the Town, as long as they are within the town’s Burning Control Bylaw.

On Wednesday, Lethbridge County imposed a Fire Advisory, which asks residents to to postpone burning until the Fire Advisory has been lifted.

If burning is necessary, County residents must follow Fire Permit Bylaw regulations. Residents are responsible for continuously monitoring their fires and must extinguish it immediately, if the wind exceeds 15-kmph.

If a fire becomes uncontrollable, immediately call 911.

The County may impose a Fire Ban if the very dry conditions continue., in which case, all fire must be extinguished..
