Spitz Stadium to Receive $2.9-Million in Upgrades Over the Fall

LETHBRIDGE – A much needed facelift is on the way for Spitz Stadium.

Originally named Henderson Stadium, the ball park was built in 1975 and can accommodate more than 2,000 spectators.

It will now see $2.9-million in necessary upgrades.

Those will include improvements to accessibility, upgraded media boxes and exterior and washroom renovations.

The project had to be re-scoped after an Request for Quotations earlier this year was cancelled. That quote was going to include a full upper concourse with additional washrooms and a VIP suite.

However, it was determined that not all of those upgrades could be completed under the existing budget. They will be deferred for consideration in the City’s 2018 – 2027 capital budget.

Work is set to begin this fall.
