Lethbridge Hurricanes Set to Open 2016 WHL Playoffs
LETHBRIDGE – The wait is finally over for the Lethbridge Hurricanes and their fan base, as they return to the WHL playoffs for the first time since the 2008-2009 season.
The Hurricanes wrapped up the regular season by finishing first in the Central Division, posting 46 wins in 72 games, and will face the Regina Pats in the first round match-up.
Brayden Burke led the team in scoring and came in third in the WHL in that category, putting up an impressive 109-points (27-goals-82-assists). He had plenty of support along the way, as seven players scored 20-goals or more, and eight contributed at least 50-points.
While the team’s deep offensive talent saw them finish second in Eastern Conference scoring, it was also a strong season defensively, as the club allowed the third-fewest goals against in the conference.
