All but Two School Boards Expected to Submit LGBTQ Policies to Alberta Education
EDMONTON: The Alberta government says it expects that all but two of its school boards will submit policies by the end of the day on how to make schools safe and accepting of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students.
Education Minister Dave Eggen had set Thursday, (March 31st) as the deadline for 61 publicly funded school boards to submit their draft polices.
Eggen says so far the province has received policies from 55 school boards, with more to come.
He didn’t identify the school boards that have not complied with the directive. However, LethbridgeNewsNow.com can confirm one of the the school boards is Lethbridge School District 51 and on Tuesday, Palliser Regional School officials stated they would be seeking legal advise before sending its final “Safe and Caring Learning Environments” policy to the province.
