Numerous Construction Projects Causing Some Visitor Disruptions at Waterton
WATERTON – Visitors are being reminded of some spring and summer construction projects that may be causing some disruptions at Waterton Lake National Park.
The earliest closures will be both the Cameron Lake Day Use Area and Akamina Parkway, from April 30th until later into November. Existing facilities and the parking area are being upgraded.
The Lakeshore Trail at Cameron Lake and the parkway will be closed during construction for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Parks Canada is currently pursuing a complimentary shuttle service for hikers to ensure continued access to trails along Akamina Parkway, which include Carthew-Alderson and Summit Lake.
Red Rock Parkway will close in May for crews doing routine road work and replacing culverts, but it will be open for weekend access. Visitors can access the parkway from Fridays at 2-pm until Sundays at 4-pm. It’ll also be open for the May long weekend, on Friday, May 20 at 2-pm to Monday, May 23 at 4-pm.
