LASC Swim-a-thon
LETHBRIDGE – Kids, as young as five, made a splash April 9, as they competed for a chance to win some one-on-one coaching with Olympic team nominee Rachel Nicol.
The Annual Swim-a-thon fundraiser for the Lethbridge Amateur Swim Club kicked off at the Max Bell Aquatic Center with club members swimming five kilometers as quickly as possible, or as many lengths as possible in two hours for the younger swimmers.
“Everyone did a great job, one swimmer finished [five kilometers] in one hour and two minutes while eight of our junior members swam as much as 50 laps,” Lacey de Kock, President of the LASC said.
The fundraiser takes place while eight National team members compete in Toronto for the 2016 Rio Olympics and continues until April 15, 2016.
