Phoslock Treatment Henderson Lake

LETHBRIDGE – The City of Lethbridge Parks Department will be placing Phoslock into Henderson Lake beginning on Monday, April 25th, in an eefort to reduce algae blooms.

Portions of the parking lot near the playground on the northern edge of Parkside Drive South and the boat launch will be closed to the public.

This location will be used as a staging area for the treatment process.

During the application, residents may notice a milky colouring in areas of the lake. 

This is a normal occurrence that will dissipate within hours after treatment.

According to a news release from the city, “Phoslock is a patented phosphorus locking technology to restore water quality in ponds, lakes and reservoirs. It has been used in several countries around the world to effectively decrease phosphorous concentrations. Phoslock is non-toxic and safe for use in lakes, storm water reservoirs and drinking water reservoirs.”
