Province Wide Ban on ATV’s Due to Dry Conditions

May 6, 2016 | 3:40 PM

EDMONTON:  The Alberta government has placed a province wide ban on all-terrain vehicles for fear they could spark more fires in bone-dry conditions.

The municipal affairs minister says the ban does not cover the use of ATVs in agricultural or commercial undertakings.

There are about 40 forest fires burning in the province.

The most critical is the Fort McMurray blaze that has forced 80-thousand people from their homes. Officials say it remains out of control and is likely to burn for weeks.

Some displaced residents saw a sobering view of their burned city as they drove through it in a convoy that took them south to be reunited with families and friends.
