Brian Jean Addresses Alberta’s Fiscal Future
LETHBRIDGE – Alberta’s Official Opposition Leader, Brian Jean, was Thursday’s guest speaker at Lethbridge’s SACPA meeting, talking about the Wildrose vision for Alberta.
His large talking points are focussed on the province’s deficit and fiscal management plan, citing some recent criticisms of the NDP budget. His plan is to create a bright future for the province, keeping public policy, job opportunities and the economy in mind.
When asked about the newly introduced Carbon Levy, Jean stressed that this is not the time to be taking more from Albertan’s pockets.
“Based on our calculations, it’s at least $930, probably closer to $1000, a year out of every family’s pockets… Their wages are going down 10, 20, 30-per cent, in some cases 100-per cent… It’s a time to actually reduce taxes, and encourage them to take that money and spend it how they want to, not how government wants to.”
