Unemployment Rate Inches Up for Lethbridge-Medicine Hat Region

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge-Medicine Hat unemployment rate continues to be one of the lowest in the province.

In May, the figure for this region was 7.4 per cent, up from 7.2 per cent in April.

However, that’s still much higher than May of last year when the rate was at 4.3 per cent.

Overall in Alberta, the jobless rate jumped up to 7.8 per cent from 7.2 per cent back in April.

The national average in May was 6.9 per cent as the economy added 13,800 jobs.
