Jul 8, 2016 | 9:36 AM

LETHBRIDGE:  The Lethbridge Medicine hat jobless rate slipped a tenth of a point in June to 7.3%.

The local area and Edmonton have the lowest unemployment rates in the province.  However, the 7.3 is still significantly higher than the 4.1% in June of last year.

The highest regional jobless rate in the province is shared by Wood buffalo, Cold Lake and Red Deer at 9.3%

Alberta’s jobless rate is up a tenth of a point to 7.9% for June.  The provincial rate was at 5.8% in June of 2015 and was once the lowest in the country.  However, Alberta now trails B.C. (5.9%), Saskatchewan and Manitoba (both at 6.1%), Ontario (6.4%) and Quebec (7%).

Canada’s labour market hardly changed in June from May.

The national unemployment rate inched down to 6.8%, from 6.9% the previous month. The decline was mostly because fewer people were looking for work.
