Pokemon Go Event A Big Success at Nikka Yuko Gardens

Jul 21, 2016 | 11:10 AM

LETHBRIDGE:  The Pokemon Go event at Nikka Yuko Gardens Wednesday night was a huge success.  The second event, slated for Thursday night, is expected to be just as successful.

Garden staff dropped lures in one area of the Garden, where players could pay $2 to get in and check out five Pokestops as the Nikka Yuko staff wanted to hold down the Widow’s Walk Gym!

Or, you could pay $6 and get access to the Pokemon Go action and an outdoor movie, which was shown in the Prairie Garden at Nikka Yuko.

Gardens Executive Director Michelle Day was thrilled with the attendance.  She noted that Nikka Yuko tried an outdoor movie last year and had 30 people attend but, Wednesday night’s attendance hit 506.

Day was very impressed by how respectful the attendees were of the garden features.

Nikka will hold another Pokemon Go event on Thursday night. Gates open at 8:00-pm with a Disney Anime movie entitled “Spirited Away”, to start at 8:30.

The movie will again be shown in the ‘Prairie Garden’. Bring a blanket and get comfy.  Entrance fees are again $2 for Pokemon Go and $6 for the movie and the Pokemon Go event.
