Police Launch Investigation After Misconduct Allegations on Social Media
LETHBRIDGE – The Chief of the Lethbridge Police Service has ordered a Service Investigation, following comments and video posted on social media about alleged misconduct.
A news release from the LPS says that members of the Professional Standards Unit will seek out the male who created the post so a full investigation can get underway.
It also states that investigations into such matters aren’t usually carried out since they don’t meet a formal complaint under the Police Act. However, the LPS wants to ensure the community that they take the allegations, which are against multiple officers, seriously and will be treated as a unique circumstance for the public’s interest.
LPS will not make further comments on the matter until the investigation is complete.
