Jason Kenney’s “Unity Truck Tour” Stops in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE – PC leadership hopeful Jason Kenney stopped in Lethbridge today as part of his Unity Truck Tour.

Kenney is travelling the province to visit all 87 constituencies at least once to speak with people about his plan to unite conservatives in an effort to beat the NDP in the next election.

While on the road, Kenney says he’s hearing that Albertans are quite worried about the future. “People are really concerned about the economy and how the provincial NDP government is making a bad situation much worse,” Kenney adds. He points to the pending NDP carbon tax that will make many common purchases more expensive.

Kenney says he’s concerned that if the PC and Wildrose parties continue to fight each other, the NDP could get re-elected to a second term and do even more damage to the economy.

He has put together a five-point plan to unite conservatives in the province. It starts with getting elected as leader of the PC’s with a clear mandate to unite, secondly he would sit down with Wildrose leader, Brian Jean, to reach an agreement on the creation of a new free enterprise party. The agreement would then be referred to the grassroots members for them to decide in a referendum if that’s the route they would like to take. If approved, a new party would be set up and the party would elect it’s own leader around the beginning of 2018.
