Reuse Rendezvous Returns For 5th Year

Aug 28, 2016 | 1:06 PM

LETBRIDGE – Those looking to part with gently used goods will have the chance to do so next month with the 5th Annual “Reuse Rendezvous,” organized by Environmental Lethbridge.

Residents are invited to place items marked “free” in front of their homes on the evening of September 9, 2016.

Over the weekend the public have the chance to cruise the streets and help themselves to any of the items free of charge.

Come September 11, all remaining items will be reclaimed by their original owners.

For the first time ever, electronics recycling will be part of the swap and share event.

Efutures Renewables will pick up electronics on Sept 11, from any household who requests pickup when they register their location for Reuse Rendezvous.

Items eligible for pickup include: computers, printers, television sets, along with household electronics such as small kitchen appliances, fans, etc.

Environment Lethbridge Executive Director, Kathleen Sheppard, said that she regards the event as a unique community building event that helps households rid themselves of clutter.

“It’s also a great opportunity to find new-to-you treasures. For students returning for the fall semester, it’s the perfect way to furnish an apartment or dorm room.”

Anyone who wishes to participate can pick up their free lawn sign at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre or the Environment Lethbridge office.

Participating households are encouraged to register their items on an online map.
