LETHBRIDGE –  Two people were sent to hospital Monday afternoon and a portion of Highway-3 outside of the city was closed for three hours as police dealt with a multi motorcycle collision.

Around 4:30, a group four bikers were east bound in heavy traffic, headed to Medicine Hat after a trip to Nelson, BC, when the incident happened.

The group came upon a slow moving tractor on Highway 3 near the exit to Bridge Drive.

The first rider made it past the tractor safely. But, the second rider hit his brakes, locking his rear wheel, while trying to swerve around the tractor. He lost control and went down. The third motorcycle struck the second motorcycle and also went down. The fourth rider was able avoid the chain reaction.   One biker was treated and released from hospital, while the other is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
