CIS Roundup: Western bounces back from last week’s loss with win over Waterloo
LONDON, Ont. — Chris Merchant and the Western Mustangs atoned for a rare regular-season loss last week with a commanding 75-14 victory over the Waterloo Warriors in CIS football action on Saturday.
Merchant threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns as Western (2-1) bounced back from 38-31 loss to Carleton on Sept. 4.
Alex Taylor ran for 141 yards and a score. Fellow Mustangs running backs Trey Humes and Cedric Joseph also rushed for TD’s and back-up quarterback Ben Bergamin ran in another.
George Johnson was Western’s top receiver with 100 yards and two touchdowns. Myles Rombough and Anthony Joyal had the others while kicker Marc Liegghio added 21 points, including four field goals and a rouge.
