LETHBRIDGE – It takes dedication to promote equality in a community, so it’s now your turn to help recognize those who do just that right here in Lethbridge!

The local International Day of Disabilities committee will be accepting nominations for its Inclusion Award until October 31. There are four categories up for grabs:

INNOVATOR: For a business dedicated to inclusion and removing barriers by creating an accessible space for patrons with disabilities, and/or fostering inclusive hiring and accommodation practices to help people with disabilities realize their passion.

COLLABORATOR: Given to a community group making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities through acceptance and equal opportunity.

SUPPORTER: Recognizes an individual who is a strong ally of those with disabilities and their success through advocacy and encouragement.

CHAMPION: Awarded to an individual with a disability who has distinguished themselves through personal or professional excellence, creating a positive impact on the community with their attitude and effort.

Submissions can include, but are not limited to, written or photo essays, videos, poetry or a slideshow presentation. Nomination forms can be found at www.idpdlethbridge.ca.

The awards will be presented on December 1, at the annual International Day of Disabilities celebration.
