Taber plant supplying Chalet Sauce chips
TABER — PepsiCo Foods Canada says its Taber plant will be helping feed Canadians’ desire for the latest snack craze.
During September Swiss Chalet restaurants across Canada have been selling Chalet Sauce flavour Lay’s Potato Chips. The company says it’s working on getting more supply out to restaurants.
“We knew Canadians would have a sweet spot for Lay’s Chalet Sauce chips, but the response has been beyond our expectations,” Shereen Yasseen, Senior Director of Marketing for Frito-Lay, said in a news release. She added production is being ramped up.
A spokesperson said PepsiCo’s plant at Taber is the source for the chips in Western Canada.
The company is planning to roll out limited quantities of Lay’s Chalet Sauce chips to stores November 1. The secret recipe Chalet Sauce has been used in Swiss Chalet resturants since 1954.
