U of L maintains top position in 2017 university rankings
LETHBRIDGE – The University of Lethbridge only continues to demonstrate its strengths, according to the Maclean’s 2017 University Rankings.
For the fifth year in a row, the university came in third place for the Primarily Undergraduate category, which is a classification of 19 universities across Canada.
It tied for top spot in Student Services, which is based on the amount of money spent on various student services, and also managed to jump three spots to eighth in Student Satisfaction.
“I think when you see our enrolment numbers at an all-time high, as they were this fall, it reflects the reputation our faculty and staff have helped create over the years, that this is a place where students are the number one priority,” said Mike Mahon, U of L president.
The success of the university’s full-time faculty was recognized, as well. The Medical/Science Grants section measures how well faculty are able to receive funding from the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The U of L came in second place in this category for the third consecutive year.
Finally, it was placed fourth in terms of reputation across the country. The category takes in surveys from a number of university faculty and administrators, as well as high school guidance counsellors and business people reflecting on the U of L’s overall quality and innovation.
The print version of the Maclean’s Rankings is set to be release on Thursday, October 27.
