City, county looking at reasons behind low airport use
LETHBRIDGE – A new survey by the City of Lethbridge and County is reaching out to local airport users.
It’s being used to update the 2011 County Airport’s Financial Assesment and Governance Strategy. But it’s also trying to get to the root cause of why people aren’t taking advantage of the airport more often.
“I think the common myth out there is that it’s too expensive,” said County Reeve, Lorne Hickey. “But if you’re booking to Toronto, or somewhere like that, it is not that much more to fly out of Lethbridge.”
He also said that it may have something to do with a lack of services at the terminal itself, noting that some changes may be needed to add bathrooms in the waiting area after security or additional seating.
“I think it’s very important that the travelling public take the time to do this so we’ll know what services to provide.”
The Airport Use survey will be available for the next two week on the City’s website.
