A look at the four people who died in the shooting in northern Saskatchewan
Four people were killed and seven wounded in a mass shooting at a school and a home in the northern Saskatchewan community of La Loche on Jan. 22. An 18-year-old, who was 17 at the time, pleaded guilty Friday.
Here’s a look at those who died:
Marie Jaqueline Janvier:
The 21-year-old had recently started working at the school in La Loche as a teacher’s aide and planned on becoming a teacher. She loved children and animals, and lived with and took care of her mother and grandmother. “It’s so quiet in the house now,” says her mother, Jackie Janvier. She describes her only child as a kind, sweet and caring woman who worked hard because she didn’t like sitting at home. Deegan Park, her boyfriend of three years, said at the time he would have given up the rest of his life just to spend another year with her. “I grew up not a good guy, but she turned me right.”
