On Point! Leth Hurricanes Fire Back With 6-1 Win Over R.D. Rebels

Oct 29, 2016 | 9:31 PM

LETHBRIDGE – The Hurricanes came back with vengeance on Oct. 29 against The Red Deer Rebels with their first glorious win after a sore 6 straight losses.

The Canes had the home fans at their side as they reigned victorious with a 6-1 final score.

A few penalties were handed out to each team early on but it was Giorgio Estephan who earned a 1-0 score for the Canes in the first period.

In the second period Jordy Bellerive’s power play goal fired up the Cane train with another goal from Tanner Nagel shortly after.

The Rebels did snag one goal in the second period; however, it did not seem to hurt Lethbridge’s confidence as they would go on to take a whopping three goals in the third period courtesy of Tyler Wong, Giorgio Estephan and Brayden Burke.

For a second night in a row shooting was neck and neck with the Canes slightly ahead with 28 to Red Deer’s 27.

Since their last win on October 12 against Victoria, the club had surrendered 28 goals and only managed nine of their own in six games.

The win brings the Hurricanes record to 6-7-1-1.

The Canes will be on the road in B.C. for the next three games, first facing The Kamloops Blazers Nov. 3 and then taking on Victoria Royals Nov. 4 and Vancouver Giants Nov. 5.
