PICTURE BUTTE –  Thieves hit two communities north of Lethbridge over the weekend, targeting tools and heavy equipment.

The Town of Nobleford reports that between Friday (Oct 28th) afternoon and Monday (Oct31) morning, a John Deere skidsteer with a set of forks and a bucket were stolen from a construction site on Highway Avenue in the town site. The value of the items taken is about $40 000, and a truck with a trailer would have been needed to transport the items. The suspect vehicle would have been parked in the area for at least half and hour.

The second theft was reported just east of Nobleford in Shaughnessy, also between Friday afternoon and 11:00 Monday morning.

A black covered trailer with a large amount of tools and a trough machine were stolen from a business located off Highway 25 in the town site. The items taken are valued at $10 000.

A half tonne or larger truck would have been needed to tow the trailer, which had old and dilapidated tires.

Picture Butte RCMP are requesting that if the general public has any information about these thefts that they contact the Picture Butte RCMP or Crimestoppers at 1-800-22-TIPS (8477)
