Shootout loss breaks Hurricanes win streak

Nov 4, 2016 | 11:18 PM

VICTORIA – It was a short lived win streak for the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

They fell 3-2 to the Victoria Royals Friday (Nov. 4) night after taking the match up all the way to a shootout.

The Royals got ahead early with two first period goals from Jack Walker. Jesse Zaharichuck made the comeback for the Hurricanes in the second, and eventually tied it up at the 16:27 mark of the third period. Both Hurricanes goals were assisted by Brayden Burke and Ryley Lindgren.

There were just four power play opportunities between the two teams. The Canes didn’t pick up a goal on their one attempt, and Victoria found the net on one of three.

Everything came down to a shootout that unfortunately saw Stuart Skinner fold to Kaid Oliver on the Royals’ last shot.

The Canes were hoping to continue a two game win streak on the road, but slip to 7-7-1-2 overall with this loss.

They wrap up this three game tour on Saturday (Nov. 5) taking on the Vancouver Giants at the Langley Events Centre before taking a week long break.
