Backyard fire leads to explosion on north side

LETHBRIDGE –  Police were called out to assist the fire department at a fire scene shortly after 4:00 Saturday afternoon.

The fire happened in the backyard of a home in the 800 block of 12-B street north.  A neighbor confirms hearing a loud explosion and then seeing black smoke billowing from the area.

A backyard fire lead to the explosion of a propane tank.  There is no damage estimate yet.

Police confirm there was no meth lab and no criminal activity involved.
