Phase one of Legacy Gate commercial area expected to open spring 2017

LETHRBIDGE –  The city’s north side will soon have a new commercial area to enjoy.

Phase one of the Legacy Gate development, at the corner of Scenic Drive and Mildred Dobbs Blvd, is expected to open in spring 2017. The $7-million project will feature a Tim Horton’s, Petro-Canada, 7-11 convenience store and Jetz car wash.

Ian Moxon developed the site plan, and Silver Ridge Construction started work in August 2016.

More than 30-per cent of the six acre lot has already been leased by Avison Young Lethbridge. However, space is still available for other market demands, like professional offices, restaurants or retail stores.

“North Lethbridge has experienced significant residential growth, but the commercial development hasn’t necessarily kept pace,” noted Matthew Sherwood, owner of Sherwood Developments Inc., which has built and now manages Legacy Gate.

“We believe that adding much-needed services will, in turn, add value to living in the area and provide residents with even more of a neighbourhood to be part of.”

Sherwood added that the development will continue with the theme of naming roads and spaces in the Legacy Ridge area after prominent Lethbridge women.
