RED DEER – RCMP are asking for public assistance locating 47-year old Michael Wayne Lamontagne of Red Deer, who is wanted on Alberta-wide warrants for the robbery of a woman at gunpoint back on November 11.

It occurred at 11:00-am, when a man approached the woman demanding money and holding a handgun. When the victim got back in her car and locked it, the suspect smashed the window and took her backpack as she fled through the passenger door. The victim was not injured, and the suspect ran from the scene.

RCMP identified the male suspect, when he and a female companion were caught on video in a convenience store, using the victim’s credit card.

Red Deer RCMP soon identified the female suspect and arrested her the afternoon of November 17. Diane Fiddler, 44, of Red Deer, faces Criminal Code charges for possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and fraud under $5,000.

But police continue to search for Michael Lamontagne, who is wanted on warrants for armed robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon contrary to a court order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and fraud under $5,000. Lamontagne is also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating parole.

Citizens are advised not to approach Lamontagne if they see him, as he may be in possession of a weapon.

If you see Michael Lamontagne or have information about his whereabouts, please contact the Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or report it online at www.tipsubmit.com.
