EDMONTON – A member of Alberta’s Wildrose party is renewing his call for a merger of his own party and the provincial Progressive Conservatives.
Derek Fildebrandt says people in his Strathmore-Brooks riding and elsewhere in the province have told him they want the N-D-P government out.
P-C leadership candidate Jason Kenney has blamed vote splitting among small-c conservatives for the N-D-P’s win in last year’s election.
Kenney says only a merger can prevent that from happening again in 2019, and he plans to seek a mandate to join with Wildrose if he wins the Tory leadership in March.
