Dec 24, 2016 | 5:49 AM

MONARCH – On Friday (Dec. 23) at approximately 7:20 p.m., Coaldale RCMP responded to Highway 3 near Monarch, where an older pickup truck had lost control in the eastbound lanes.

It eventually rolled a number of times, coming to a rest on the centre median. There were three occupants in the vehicle.

A 26-year old female passenger from Lethbridge was ejected from the truck, while another 4-year old girl remained inside. The woman and young girl were transported by ambulance to Chinook Regional Hospital for treatment.

The 26-year old was later transported by ground ambulance to a Calgary hospital for head and spinal injuries, described as being critical. Police confirmed Wednesday (Dec. 28) afternoon that she remains in the intensive care unit in serious but stable condition.

The 4-year old girl was released Friday evening with only minor injuries.

The 25 year old male driver from Lethbridge was not seriously injured. At the time of the collision, it was snowing and the roads conditions were poor.

Coaldale RCMP are still investigating.
