Canada atop its division in World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships after Day 1
LETHBRIDGE – Canada’s Mixed Doubles team is in first place in its group, After Day 1 of the Lethbridge World Championship Curling Tournament going on at the ATB Centre.
Canada defeated Turkey 10-4.
Mixed doubles is a faster form of curling that relies on angles and stone positioning and requires, as the name indicates, only two players per team.
The Seniors Teams for ages 50 and over, are also getting underway today (April 23) in the 16th edition of that competition.
Here are the 1st place Mixed Doubles teams in each group after Day 1:
Group A – Belarus
Group B – Denmark
Group C – Austria
Group D – Canada
Group E – Switzerland
In the Senior’s Groups, the women have been divided into two groups:
Group A: hosts Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Russia and Sweden.
Group B: Australia, Czech Republic, Finland, defending champions Scotland, Switzerland, Slovakia and USA.
The three men’s groups are:
Group A: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Norway, Poland and defending champions Sweden
Group B: Australia, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Switzerland and USA
Group C: hosts Canada, England, Finland, New Zealand, Russia, Scotland and Wales
The World Championships run until April 29th.
