Pilot and passenger not injured after plane crashes in reservoir near Stavely

STAVELY –  ***UP-DATED — The pilot of a single-engine plane and his passenger survived a crash landing in a lake just west of Stavely Monday( May1) night..

Jus before 5:00 pm, a Cessna 180 aircraft had crashed into the water of Pine Coulee reservoir.

The aircraft was on a test flight after recent repairs when it experienced engine failure. The pilot attempted to land on the shore near the reservoir but was unable to reach land and crashed into the water. The pilot and a passenger were not injured and were able to  walk to a Hutterite colony to call for help.

Nanton RCMP attended the scene and interviewed the pilot and other witnesses to determine what happened
