LETHBRIDGE – A Calgary firm has been selected to help the Palliser School District search for a new Superintendent after former Superintendent Kevin Gietz’s contract was terminated in late February. http://lethbridgenewsnow.com/article/549696/former-palliser-superintendent-terminated-board-trustees

Boyden Canada, an internationlly recognized recruitment agency, will be paid a flat rate of $50,000 plus expenses to complete the search, which is expected to begin almost immediately.

Board Chair Robert Strauss says the School District asked for anonymous submissions on what quality a new superintendent should possess, between March 27th and April 7th, and received nearly 500 responses- many citing a number of important qualities that should be considered.  http://lethbridgenewsnow.com/article/553266/public-input-needed-search-new-palliser-schools-superintendent

“I am grateful to all who took the time to submit responses to our question. The survey results will be shared in full with Boyden as part of our search.”

Many of the responses named more than one quality, and to ensure each was considered, the responses were separated into individual qualities. Overall, Strauss says there were more than 660 characteristics named.

At the top of the list were integrity/ethical behaviour, honesty, approachability, trustworthiness and respectful behaviour.

Most of the responses were submitted online, and 12 were also mailed in. A link to the survey was shared on social media, on the divison’s website and school websites for parents, teachers, students and other staff.

Strauss says while the search continues, the contract of Acting Superintendent Dr. Garry Andrews will be extended until August 31st.
